Never have space assets and operations been more critical - and more at risk. What can Europe do?

Mere om

Space has always been a place for human wonders and geopolitical competition. But over the past decade, the world has entered a New Space era. Competition in space is not new, but as satellites become critical components of modern warfare, space is getting militarized. The importance of space during the war in Ukraine reflects how central Earth’s orbits have become to all our lives. Promoting a more sustainable use of space is key to our collective future on Earth. How do we ensure the rule of law and respect for the human race’s desires in space is preserved? After introductory remarks by Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen and Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the panelists will explore the wide range of promising opportunities offered by this domain, from exploration-driven technological innovation to critical data from earth observation satellites, and the need to actively protect this fragile environment to ensure their continued viability.
