Rethinking Africa in the news: What if we told fuller, fairer, forward looking stories?
Mere om
Africa is often portrayed in extremes – either as the “hopeless continent” or through overly simplistic “Africa Rising” headlines. But what if we told richer, more accurate stories? This session brings together leading African media innovators, youth leaders and Danish foreign editors to explore the stories that rarely make the front page: about climate solutions, youth leadership, creativity, and the continent’s global role. What are the biases in today’s reporting? What new narratives are needed to reflect Africa’s complexity and potential – and to re-engage audiences fatigued by crisis-driven news? Join us for a timely conversation on the future of journalism and the power of storytelling across borders. This panel is part of New Narratives for Africa, a project supported by the Danish Foreign Ministry and led by Constructive Institute and 2030beyond, in collaboration with African youth leaders and media professionals.
